Tattoo Aftercare Guide

Taking proper care of your new tattoo is essential to ensure it heals well and looks vibrant for years to come. Follow these aftercare steps to protect your ink and prevent infections.

1. Keep It Clean

In the first few days, gently wash your tattoo with warm water and a fragrance-free soap. Use your clean hands—avoid scrubbing with cloths or sponges. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel or let it air dry.

2. Wrapping for Protection

If you’re in an unclean environment, such as a dusty workplace or a crowded space, wrap your tattoo in clingfilm to protect it from bacteria. However, do not keep it wrapped longer than necessary—fresh air is important for the healing process.

3. Moisturising

Apply a thin layer of a recommended tattoo aftercare balm or a fragrance-free moisturiser 3-4 times per day to prevent dryness and itching. Avoid over-applying, as too much moisture can clog pores and hinder healing.

4. Avoid Picking or Scratching

As your tattoo heals, it may scab or peel—this is normal. Do not pick at the scabs or scratch the area, as this can cause scarring or loss of ink.

5. Protect from Sun Exposure

Direct sunlight can fade your tattoo, especially during the healing process. Keep it covered or apply a high-SPF sunscreen once it has fully healed.

6. No Swimming, Sauna, or Soaking

Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and baths until your tattoo is completely healed, as prolonged exposure to water can cause infections or fade the ink. Stick to quick showers instead.
